Summary

This presentation offers a practical primer on the unique legal issues facing companies in the space industry, including orbital hardware manufacturers, launch service providers, spaceports, and more. We’ll examine both the international treaty framework and the U.S. regulatory landscape, including FCC spectrum licensing, NOAA remote sensing rules, FAA launch and payload requirements, and the Commercial Space Launch Act. The session is designed to equip practitioners with a working understanding of the key compliance regimes, application processes, and risk considerations that counsel should anticipate when representing clients entering the commercial space sector.
