Summary

Training to Save a Life

This specialized training equips attorneys with three actionable steps—Question, Persuade, and Refer—that can be used to recognize and respond to signs of suicidal ideation in clients, colleagues, or others they may encounter through their legal practice.

Attorneys are often in a unique position to identify individuals in crisis due to the confidential and high-stress nature of legal matters. QPR Training enhances a lawyer’s ability to recognize warning signs, verbal and behavioral clues, and suicidal communications, and to take effective, life-saving action.

The goal of this program is to help reduce suicide deaths in Cuyahoga County and decrease the stigma surrounding mental health within the legal community. This program is made possible by the ADAMHS Board through a grant from the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation and in collaboration with The Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio.
