Summary

Join the CMBA's International Law Section for a program providing a practical, up-to-date overview of “crimmigration” - the overlap between criminal law and immigration law - with a focus on what practitioners need to know in 2026.

Speakers will walk through common criminal charges that raise immigration concerns, explain how convictions and pleas are analyzed under federal immigration law, and highlight recent developments affecting enforcement, discretion, and client advising.

Designed for criminal defense attorneys, immigration practitioners, and any lawyer who may encounter noncitizen clients, this CLE will emphasize issue-spotting, cross-disciplinary communication, and best practices for protecting clients’ rights while meeting professional responsibility obligations.
